Governor Oyebanji Pledges Commitment to Initiatives Supporting Grassroots Development and Youth Empowerment

The Governor of Ekiti State,Mr Biodun Oyebanji has pledged that his administration would continue to support initiatives that promote
grassroots development and youths empowerment

Governor Oyebanji made the pledge while commissioning a Solar Powered Borehole project executed by a Corps member , Blessing Osasenaga in Itapa-Ekiti ,Oye Local Government Area of the State

Oyebanji who spoke through the the State Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr Gold Adedayo, said the project of the Corps member reflects the spirit of selflessness, vision and commitment to development, pledging that his administration will recognize and celebrate the efforts of the Corps Member, Blessing Osasenaga..

The Governor also commended Osasenaga for her extraordinary contribution to grassroots development, exceptional dedication and impactful service which he said are part of the cardinal objectives of the NYSC programme.

He said apart from conscious efforts of the State Government to improve electricity supply to all parts of the State, his administration in conjunction with the World Bank Assisted Rural Access Agriculture Marketing Project (RAAMP) had awarded contracts for the construction of over 1000 kilometers of rural roads across the three senatorial districts of the State.

Oyebanji said youths in the State were also being empowered to venture into commercial farming, Small and medium enterprises, arts and creative economy and in the area of Information Communications Technology and innovation

While urging other Corps members to emulate the sparkling qualities of Corper Osasenaga, Oyebanji urged the community to ensure proper usage and maintenance of the borehole so that it will continue to serve the community for years and decades to come

Earlier in his welcome address the State Coordinator of The National Youth Service Corps, Alhaji Riko Abdullah commended the Corps member for her selfless service and advised the community to provide adequate security to protect the solar-powered Borehole

The State Coordinator who was represented by Mr Toyin Adejumo, a management staff of the Corps in the State, commended the Ekiti State Government for its support to the NYSC in the state.

Also speaking at the event, the Owatapa of Itapa Ekiti, Oba Dr David Ajaja lauded Corper Blessing Osasenaga for putting smiles on the faces of the people of the community stressing that: “he who give water gives life”.

The monarch who described the Corps member as a good ambassador of NYSC in the community recalled that Osasenaga had also in the past executed a skill acquisition programme under which 80 youths had been trained in eight different skills stressing that the corps member deserves a national award for the gesture

Oba Ajaja promised that Itapa community will write her name in gold in the annals of the history of the town and forever remember her for the gesture.

In her response, Corps Member Blessing Osasenaga explained that what prompted her to embark on the project was the fact that water is a serious challenge in some parts of the community.

She thanked God and those who provided her with moral and financial support during the execution of the project pledging that she would always consider as her second home.
