
Ekiti State Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun has pledged to sustain the collaborative relationship between the State Government and the media to accurately and effectively disseminate information on policies, programs and activities of Government as well as obtain feedback appropriately.
Rt. Hon. Olatunbosun who made the promise in Ado Ekiti while receiving the Chairman of Ebi Nla 102.3FM, a newly establish radio station in Ekiti, Pastor (Mrs.) Toyin Agbaje-Malomo on a courtesy visit to his office, however stressed the importance of professionalism in carrying out their job.
Assuring that the State Government believes in the sanctity of freedom of expression, Olatunbosun cautioned against going beyond the limit of the law and the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation guidelines.
He guaranteed that the State Government would not attempt to gag any media organization but would rather collaborate with them to effectively get across to the people in simple language.
The Commissioner noted that radio and television remain the most common and effective engine for information dissemination in the immediate environment that is able to reach all sectors including the not too prominent parts of the State, emphasized the significance of promoting peace, unity and development of the State.
He said “we are not averse to criticism, but I think it should be constructive devoid of negative emotions and sentiments. In fact, we need the media to help reset the orientation of the people in the National interest, so issues of public interest should be of paramount importance’.
Earlier, the Chairman of Ebi Nla, Pastor (Mrs.) Toyin Agbaje-Malomo described the newly established radio station as “voice of the voiceless”, saying that the objectives of the organization include agenda setting for Government, socioeconomic development of women and children and defending human rights.

Mrs. Agbaje-Malomo promised to ensure professionalism in the station’s broadcast, adding however that the station would need the support of the State Government to engender a symbiotic relationship.
Mrs. Agbaje-Malomo was accompanied by the Station GM, Mr. Folorunso Adebiyi and the Head of Programmes, Mrs. Olubunmi Akomolehin.
