……as HoS Calls for Modern Governance Standards in MDAs
The Ekiti State Ministry of Trade, Industry, Investment and Cooperatives has organized a two-day Staff Retreat and Workshop for its officers on Grade Level 08 and above, aimed at enhancing service delivery and boosting economic development in the State.
The workshop, with the theme: “Enhancing Optimal Service Delivery Towards Achieving the Mission and Vision of the Ministry in the Year 2025 and Beyond,” took place at the Obafemi Awolowo Civic Centre, Ado-Ekiti, from January 22 to 23, 2025.
Declaring the event open, the Ekiti State Head of Service, Dr. Folakemi Olomojobi, described the workshop as a crucial step toward improving economic growth, investor confidence and public trust in government institutions.

Dr. Olomojobi, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Utility and Infrastructure, Engr. Olumide Ajayi, commended the management of the Ministry for prioritizing training and capacity-building, emphasizing that such initiatives were essential for repositioning government institutions for efficient service delivery.
“The administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji has prioritized workers’ welfare, and it is expected that all MDAs will enhance their service delivery. Achieving sustainable economic growth in Ekiti requires optimal policy formulation, stakeholder engagement, process automation and the use of e-government platforms for business registration, investment facilitation and trade permit approvals,” she said.
In her goodwill message, the Commissioner for Trade, Industry, Investment and Cooperatives, Mrs. Omotayo Adeola, underscored the importance of strategic planning, stating that the retreat would help identify challenges and proffer solutions.
“We cannot succeed without organizing ourselves and harnessing our ideas into practical solutions. By the end of this programme, we should have clearly identified our challenges and mapped out ways to address them,” she said.
Mrs. Adeola urged participants to engage in self-learning and professional development to enhance their performance, stressing that their work directly impacts the livelihoods of over 3.5 million people in the State.
In his goodwill message, the State Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, described the Ministry as a model organization whose work should be studied and replicated by other stakeholders.
Olatunbosun, who noted that the Ministry’s initiatives align with the present administration’s vision of shared prosperity—a concept championed by Governor Biodun Oyebanji, emphasized the importance of collaboration in wealth creation, adding that achieving economic growth requires a collective approach, where knowledge and resources are shared toward a common goal.
He further highlighted the frequent collaborations between his Ministry and the Ministry of Trade and Investment, noting their significant impact on the information landscape and contribution to the State’s economic agenda.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Dele Ogunsemoyin reaffirmed the retreat’s objective of fostering dialogue, identifying challenges and developing sustainable solutions.
He emphasized that the retreat would equip the Ministry’s personnel with the necessary skills and strategies to improve service delivery, promote investment and contribute significantly to the economic growth of the State.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health and Human Services, Mrs. Sola Gbenga-Igotun presented a paper titled “Overview of the Civil Service Ethics and Public Service Rules”, while Ekiti State Auditor-General, Mr. Victor Adeuya, who was represented by Mr. Oluwatayo Ifelola presented a paper titled “Financial Administration and Regulations in the Civil Service”.
Present at the event were the Director-General of MEDA, Mr. Kehinde Olatoye; the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Cooperative Development, Hon. Dayo Famoyegun and other dignitaries.
