The Ekiti State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Erelu Tosin Aluko-Ajisafe, has urged people of the State to always maintain a clean environment in order to prevent any outbreak of epidemic in the state.
The Commissioner who made the call while monitoring the monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise in Ado-Ekiti emphasized that maintaining a high level of hygiene is crucial for keeping the environment free of communicable diseases.
During her visit to the Post Office area of Ado Ekiti, Erelu Aluko-Ajisafe commended the efforts of members of the Tricycle Riders Union for their active involvement in cleaning of the road median during the exercise
She however expressed disappointment at the conduct of market women in Okesha and Atikankan for not participating well in today’s sanitation exercise

The commissioner further encouraged the people of Ekiti State to continue to support Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s initiatives aimed at ensuring a clean and safe environment that was free from flooding.
She disclosed that Government had made remarkable progress in its dredging and de-siltation activities currently ongoing in the State.
Also speaking, the Director of Environmental Health and Sanitation in the Ministry, Mr. Tunde Balogun, announced that several violators of the State sanitation laws who were apprehended during the exercise will face prosecution.
