Ekiti State Government has approved over 150 million naira for Agricultural land clearing across the state.

The State Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun who made this known while featuring in a current affairs radio program in Ado Ekiti, said the approval was given by the State Executive Council to boost the ongoing Agricultural revolution and mechanized farming in the State.

Olatunbosun highlighted other decisions of the State Executive Council to include; approval of over 700million naira for renovation of House of Assembly Complex and Service Commission Building, approval of over 2billion naira for rehabilitation of De-Head/Faglo, Basiri Junction Road in Ado Ekiti, approval of 229million naira for procurement of tractors and other farm machinery as well as approval of over 320million for the construction of 100 bed space capacity hostel at Command Secondary School, Isan Ekiti.

Reiterating the commitment of Oyebanji administration to provision of sustainable access, availability and affordability of quality food and making the State a significant net provider of food for the larger society, Olatunbosun said the State is also unswerving in the task of creating job opportunities for people in the State, particularly the youths, noting that the MOU signed by the State Government with Cavista Holding was to boost production of cassava and provide opportunities to work for the people.

The Commissioner added that about 100,000 hectares of land had been cleared to establish the cassava plantation in Ekiti State.

He stated that the State Government is also rehabilitating close to 1,000k farm roads under the Rural Access and in Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP), which when completed would grant easy transportation of farm produce to the city.

Olatunbosun however highlighted that several key initiatives currently being implemented by the State Government, including the wage award for civil servants and pensioners in the State, expanded healthcare access, education reforms and economic empowerment programs.
