…..as the Officers undergo 2-day training workshop
Ekiti State Government has charged the Information Officers in the State to adequately and professionally project government activities to the public in line with the global best practices.
The State Commissioner for Capacity Development and Training, Prof. Patrick Tedela gave the charge in Ado-Ekiti during the flag off of a 2-day training for Information Officers and allied professionals in the State Ministry of Information on “Modern Techniques and Best Practices in Information Dissemination and Management” held in Ado-Ekiti.
Prof. Tedela who appreciated Governor Biodun Oyebanji for graciously approving training programmes for Officers in the Civil Service of Ekiti State, stated that the significance of adequate information dissemination in governance could not be overemphasized.
“The knowledge and skills acquired during this programme will not only benefit the individual officers but will also contribute to the overall improvement of the State Civil Service with the attendant enhanced service delivery, innovative ideas and better ways of doing government business for the greater good of the people of Ekiti State”, he said.
The Commissioner noted some of the resultant benefits of the training to include good understanding of government programmes and projects, informed citizens in respect of efforts, achievements, projections and limitations as well as increased attraction of local and global partners willing to invest in the State’s economy, among others.
In his goodwill message, the State Commissioner of Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, emphasized the importance of regular training for the information Officers cadre to keep them updated with modern technology, as they were responsible for disseminating government policies, activities and programmes to the public.
He encouraged the trainees to embrace a vision of self-development in terms of inner ability and capacity to perform maximally, ensuring that Ekiti State is not under-reported.
In his remarks, the Director-General, Office of Transformation and Service Delivery, Dr. John Ekundayo who was represented by his Technical Adviser, Mr. Kayode Odunayo emphasized the importance of officers in any progressive organization to continuously learn, relearn and unlearn at all levels.
He urged the participants to take the training seriously, noting that such efforts were crucial for staying relevant and effective in a constantly changing technological environment.
In his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Capacity Development and Training, Mr. Olaleye Olawale who emphasized that the Ekiti State Government recognizes Civil Servants as key drivers of reforms, essential to policy formulation and execution, noted that two of the six-pillars of the current administration focus on capacity development and skills building: Governance and Human Capital Development.
Mr. Olaleye emphasized the crucial role of Information Officers in governance, urging them to provide credible, accurate and timely information to the public and feedback to the government.
He encouraged participants at training to use the opportunity to gain facts, knowledge and skills to foster innovative thinking and enhance productivity for the overall benefit of the State.
