GOV. OYEBANJI URGES CORPS MEMBERS TO USE SCHEME AS TRANSFORMATIVE EXPERIENCE

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji has implored the new national Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members posted to the State to see their service year as a transformative experience that would shape their character, broaden their perspectives and contribute significantly to the progress of the nation.

Governor Oyebanji made the plea during the swearing in and official opening ceremony of the 2024 batch ‘A’ Stream I orientation course for Corps members deployed to Ekiti State.

The Governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for Youth Development and Chairman, NYSC Governing Board, Mr. Gold Adedayo noted that the scheme had been instrumental in molding the minds of countless Nigerian youths, stressing the need for the Corps members to uphold the principles of patriotism, loyalty and selfless service it exemplified.

Governor Oyebanji reiterated the resolve of his administration to honouring outstanding corps members with the prestigious State Honours Award, adding that their selfless contributions to the betterment of the host communities would be acknowledged and celebrated.

In his remarks, the State Coordinator of NYSC, Alhaji Riko Shuaibu said that a total of 1,385 Corps members comprising 712 males and 673 females from across the nation were registered for the current batch of Corps members in the State.

Alhaji Shuaibu who expressed gratitude to the Governor Oyebanji for what he described as his unwavering support for the NYSC in the State, stated that the State Government’s contribution was instrumental to the success of the scheme in the State.

He however appealed for the construction of a new perimeter fence to replace the fallen one, as well as assist in the construction of lecture halls to further promote the success of the scheme.
