Ekiti State Government will soon set up an Inter-Ministerial Committee that would work on the review of the State Statistical Master Plan (SSMP).
The State Commissioner for Budget, Economic Planning and Performance Management, Mr Niyi Adebayo dropped the hint while declaring open the 4th Quarter of the State Consultative Committee on Statistics (SCCS) meeting in Ado Ekiti.
Mr Adebayo said the review of the master plan would incorporate new data and trends that would enhance statistics development and management in the State, noting that the move would also improve welfare packages for stakeholders.
The Commissioner who stated that efforts were on top gear to ensure that something concrete is done in the area of State Based Census and Survey, affirmed that the State Gross Domestic Product (GDP) was also receiving the attention of the government.
While stressing that the compilation of data on household living standards and community development surveys are in top gear, the Commissioner said action has commenced on monthly price monitoring towards a quarterly release of commodity price index and inflation rate for the State.
Adebayo who recalled the various achievements recorded in the year 2023 by the State Statistics System(SSS), appreciated the SSS stakeholders for their cooperation in the past year
In his welcome address, Ekiti State Statistician General, Mr Kolawole Omoyeni, thanked the State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji for his prompt approval of funds for activities of his office.
Mr Kolawole charged the participants and other stakeholders to put more efforts in year 2024, affirming that the State Bureau of Statistics would soon release its 2023 Statistical Bulletin that would showcase the activities of the SSS vis-a-vis Statistical Production in the year 2023.

According to him, the theme for this year: “Disseminating Statistical Data to End Users in the State” , was derived from the second Bi-annual meeting of the National Consultative Committee on Statistics ( NCCS) held in Ibadan, Oyo State in year 2023.
He added that Community Development Statistical Survey in the State would soon be carried out in collaboration with the State Ministry of Local Government.
