Ekiti State Government has sought the collaboration of the National Orientation Agency
in promoting civic education, patriotism and fostering a culture of active citizenship among the residents of the State.

The Director General of the Ekiti State Bureau of Civic Orientation and Citizenship,Mrs Olawumi Famuyiwa made the appeal while playing host to the State Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr. Akinola Adeyemi and top management staff of the Agency who paid her a courtesy visit in Ado-Ekiti.

She acknowledged the importance of collaboration between the two organizations stressing that such a move would help in achieving the mandate of her Bureau particularly in the areas of initiation and execution of civic education programmes, grassroots engagement, sensitization and mobilizing the populace to support Government’s programmes and policies.

While expressing her gratitude for the support of the National Orientation Agency for the State Government so far, the Director General solicited the support of the Agency in using its available platforms in promoting citizens education and helping in further communicating the policies and programmes of the Oyebanji Administration to the people at the grassroots.

Earlier in his remarks, the
Ekiti State Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr. Akinola Adeyemi commended Governor Oyebanji for recognizing the importance of civic orientation and citizenship in the development of Ekiti State and for establishing the Bureau of Civic Orientation and Citizenship to perform the important duties of public enlightenment and sensitization of the citizenry.

Adeyemi also lauded Governor Oyebanji for selecting a capable Director General for the Bureau in the person of Mrs Famuyiwa whom he described as a competent, experienced, dedicated and well grounded public officer, expressing confidence in her ability to lead the Bureau effectively.

He highlighted the significance of the appointment in promoting good governance, citizen engagement, and the overall development of the state.

While emphasizing the importance of the collaboration between NOA and the Bureau of Civic Orientation and Citizenship in advancing civic education and active citizenship in Ekiti State , Adeyemi assured the Director General of the agency’s support and commitment to working closely with her in achieving their shared objectives.
