
120 Persons with Disabilities (PWD) will benefit from the year 2025 Vocational Training Program organized by the Ekiti State Government scheduled to commence on Thursday 3rd of April, 2025.
The Special Adviser to the Ekiti State Governor on Special Education and Social Inclusion, Mrs. Adetoun Agboola, who made this known in Ado-Ekiti, said that the program was designed to equip special people with essential skills and knowledge with the aim of making them self-sufficient and capable of contributing meaningfully to the society.
Stressing that the focus is to foster vocational and entrepreneurial training for PWDs as part of efforts to engender social inclusion and economic empowerment in the State, Mrs. Agboola said that the initiative is a demonstration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s commitment to his administration’s Shared Prosperity mantra, under which every individual, regardless of physical ability, has the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of the State and the nation as a whole.
Agboola explained that the program would consist of nine months of intensive training and three months industrial training period for the participants who are drawn from across the 16 Local Government Areas and 38 Local Council Development Areas, adding that participants would be expected to undergo the industrial training program in their respective Local Government Areas.

According to her, beneficiaries will have access to modern training facilities, experienced instructors and a conducive learning environment, with emphasis on practical skills in fields such as Information and Communication Technology (ICT), tailoring and fashion designing, hairdressing and cosmetology, shoemaking, catering and hospitality as well as hotel management and entrepreneurship.
She said the program would hold at the State Skills Acquisition Centre in Ilokun, assuring that accommodation would be provided for participants from outside the State capital.
