Ekiti Works Commissioner Assures of Timely Completion of Ekiti Ring Road and Ado-Ekiti Flyover Bridge Projects.

…cautions residents on indiscriminate erection of speed breakers on roads

The Ekiti State Commissioner for Works, Mr. Sola Adebayo, has assured that construction works on the 17-km Ekiti Ring Road project, the 1-Km Ajilosun-Okeyinmi Flyover bridge and several other road projects in the State would be completed before the third anniversary celebration of the Oyebanji Administration in October this year.

The Commissioner who gave the assurance in Ado-Ekiti while featuring on Ekiti Loni/Ekiti Today, a live audience participation programme on radio described the Ekiti Ring Road and the Ajilosun-Okeyinmi Flyover bridge as landmark projects that would enhance the free flow of traffic and have lasting impact on the state as they would reduce travel time and improve the aesthetics of the state.

He disclosed that construction works have also reached advanced stages on several other projects spread across the three senatorial districts of the State including the reconstruction of the 19.56km Ikole-Ara-Isinbode Road; the 9.8-Km Itapa-Ijelu-Omu road ; the 21.5-km Ikere-Ilawe road ;
the 19.8km Ado-Iworoko-Ifaki; 19.2-km Ikere-Igbaraodo and the 32-km Ikere-Ise-Emure roads.

Adebayo disclosed that several other intra city roads and inter town roads across the State including the Phase 2 Dual Carriage way between GRA 2 Extension and Pavillion-NTA Ado-Ekiti road the Iloro-Ijurin-Ayegunle Road, Oke Ori-Ilukuno-Ipoti Road, the Oke Ayedun-Ipao-Irele-Road and other newly awarded roads are at various stages of completion.

Speaking on Federal roads in the State, the commissioner disclosed that construction works had commenced on the Ado-Ikare road which is expected to be completed in October 2026 while progress was being made on the Akure-Iju-Ado-Ikere-Iju-Itaogbolu -Akure road project

He stressed that pressure from Governor Biodun Oyebanji and Ekiti Caucus of the National Assembly on the Federal Government was paying off as more federal roads in the State were already listed for award this year

Commissioner Adebayo cautioned residents against the unauthorized construction of speed bumps on roads across the state.

Mr. Adebayo noted that while speed bumps are essential for road safety, especially in densely populated areas, their indiscriminate erection without proper approval from the Ministry poses significant risks to motorists and the structural integrity of the roads.

He emphasized that all requests for speed bumps must be directed to the Ministry for thorough assessment and approval to ensure they meet the required standards and do not cause unnecessary obstructions or damage to the roads.

The Commissioner warned that any unauthorized speed bumps found on state roads would be removed, and those responsible may face legal consequences.

Mr. Adebayo reiterated the state government’s commitment to maintaining safe and motorable roads for all residents and urged the public to cooperate with the Ministry for better road management and safety.
