The Secretary to Ekiti State Government (SSG), Prof. Habibat Adubiaro, has commended the EKITI State Chapter of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), for their unwavering commitment to raising awareness about Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in the state.
Prof. Adubiaro gave the commendation on Monday while receiving a delegation from FIDA, led by the State Chairperson, Barr. Ayobami Olowoyo-Richards at her office in Ado-Ekiti.
Welcoming the representatives of the female lawyers’ group, the SSG expressed deep appreciation for their dedication to tackling GBV and other forms of violence against vulnerable persons.
She lauded FIDA’s advocacy, legal support, and awareness campaigns, which according to her have significantly contributed to the fight against GBV in Ekiti.
“I sincerely appreciate your visit and, more importantly, the impactful work FIDA has been doing to ensure a violence-free society. Your partnership with the government in this critical area is commendable, and I assure you of my continued support, just as I have always done in the past,” she stated.
Prof. Adubiaro further urged Ekiti FIDA to collaborate with the Office of the First Lady, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, particularly in the Widows and Orphan Hope Project, an initiative aimed at supporting and empowering widows and orphans across the state.
“The Widows and Orphan Hope Project is a laudable initiative of Her Excellency, the Wife of the Governor. I encourage FIDA to be actively involved with the project, as it aligns with your mission of protecting and advocating for the rights of vulnerable women and children,” she added.
The SSG also reassured the group of the government’s commitment to creating an environment free of gender-based violence and other forms of abuse. She emphasized that the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji remains steadfast in implementing policies that safeguard the rights and dignity of all residents.
