EKITI UNVEILS MSME ICT HUB, CALLS FOR APPLICATIONS FOR FIRST TRAINING COHORT

Ekiti State Government has launched a MSME ICT Skill Acquisition Hub, an initiative designed to equip youths with globally relevant tech skills, fostering digital transformation and job creation in the State.

The State Commissioner for Trade, Industry, Investment and Cooperatives, Mrs. Omotayo Adeola, in a statement made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti, explained that the programme which is a collaboration between the State Ministry of Trade, Industry, Investment, and Cooperative and Wakocode Technologies is aimed at empowering the youth of the State by providing them with in-demand ICT skills that are critical for success in today’s global digital economy.

The Commissioner stressed that the initiative would provide beneficiaries access to both local and international job opportunities, enabling them to work remotely while contributing to the global digital economy.

Calling for application for the first cohort of the training program, Mrs. Adeola listed courses available in the training programme to include Fullstack Development, Backend Development, Cyber-security, Data Analytics and Cloud Computing.

She reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Biodun Oyebanji administration to youth empowerment, adding that the initiative which is through digital innovation is part of strategic move to prepare young people in the State for the future.

“This initiative is a key step in preparing our young people for the future, ensuring they can earn competitive salaries without leaving the State,” she stated.

Speaking on the Eligibility & Application Process, the State Commissioner stated that the programme is open to unemployed youths aged 18-35, regardless of their academic background, provided they are willing to learn and work remotely from Ekiti.
