The Permanent Secretary of the Ekiti State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Mr Babatope Ojo has stressed that the newly adopted Extension Manual of the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (L-PRES) Project would serve as a vital tool that would help in no small measure in achieving the objectives of the Project in the State
The Permanent Secretary made the assertion at a 2-Day Workshop on Review and Adoption of Extension Manual on Good Animal Husbandry Practices in Ado-Ekiti.
He noted that the objectives of the 2-Day Workshop is to provide extension agents with user friendly, comprehensive resources to deliver impactful training sessions with project beneficiaries and enhance relevance of the manual that reflects the realities and challenges of livestock farmers
Stressing the importance of capacity building and knowledge sharing in the livestock sector, Ojo noted that the training would also foster collaboration by bringing together experts, stakeholders and practitioners to exchange ideas and refine strategies for sustainable livestock management
In his remarks, the Acting Agricultural Development Programme Manager (ADP), Mr. Adegbola Bamidele explained that the Extension Manual is designed to provide a comprehensive guide for livestock farmers, extension agents, and other stakeholders in the sector.
Adegbola noted that its adoption is expected to enhance the effectiveness of training programmes for project beneficiaries, ultimately contributing to improved livestock productivity and resilience in Ekiti State.

Earlier, the State Project Coordinator,L-PRES, Mr Olayinka Adedipe highlighted the project’s commitment to supporting the development of the livestock sector in Ekiti State.
He expressed optimism that the adoption of the Extension Manual would have a positive impact on the livelihoods of livestock farmers and other stakeholders in the sector.
In his Contribution, a renowned extension specialist, Alhaji Oladele Yakubu said that sustainable agriculture development practices in livestock development as well as extension activities are important, because they serve as a medium through which proven agriculture technologies are transferred from Research institutes to the farmers for adoption for better income and improved livelihood in the livestock industry.
The review and adoption of the Extension Manual is a significant step towards achieving the objectives of the L-PRES project, which aims to improve livestock productivity, resilience, and commercialization in selected value chains.
