Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has approved the constitution of the Multisectoral Coordinating Structure (MCS) to coordinate the activities of the Nigeria for Women Programme -Scale Up Project (NFWP-SU) in the State.
A statement from the State Commissioner for Women Affairs,Mrs Olapeju Babafemi made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti
said the Nigeria for Women Programme -Scale Up Project (NFWP-SU) is a World Bank Assisted Programme designed to institutionalize Women Affinity Groups (WAGs) and other platforms for Women Economic Empowerment in Ekiti State
stressing that the programme is yet another enduringly strategy to further demonstrate and implement the shared prosperity mantra of the Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji led- administration among women in the State.
According to the Commissioner, the focus of the empowerment project is on rural women in Nigeria and the implementing States, adding that Ekiti State is one of the new states onboarded into the Scale-Up Project.
She noted that the project would enhance the livelihood of women at the grassroots in no small measure and promote the overall sustainable development of the State.
According to the Babafemi, the Chairman and members of the Multisectoral Coordinating
Structure (MCS) are drawn from the World Bank’s endorsed Ministries, Departments and Agencies that are relevant to the implementation of the Project adding that the body is billed for inauguration on Friday.
She disclosed that the State Office for the Project has commenced operations at No 10 Akinyede Street, GRA, Ado-Ekiti.
