Ekiti First Lady Visits Council of Oloris, Promises Adequate Commitment to Issues Related to Women

Wife of Ekiti State Governor, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji, has said that the crucial roles played by women in ensuring societal development can not be overemphasized, hence the need to give priority to issues affecting them.

Speaking at the Ewi of Ado Ekiti’s palace, where she paid a courtesy visit to the members of the Ekiti State Council of Oloris, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji reeled out some important issues affecting women, which can not be compromised for any reason.
They include; issues of gender based violence, health related matters most especially breast cancer and giving assistance to less privileged, which she said was part of the major thrust of her different pet projects put in place to give succour to women as a complementary role of her office to government efforts.

“Even when we have the wherewithal to address some of the issues raised, we need the buy-in of the oloris because they are at the grassroots through which we can easily access information and reach out to the needy.
This is why the support of the traditional institution is needed to ensure overwhelming success in all areas of government programmes.

Also speaking at the event, the Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Adeyemo Adejugbe encouraged the present Administration in the State never to look back in its developmental drive at making life comfortable for the people; most especially in the area of infrastructures.

Oba Adejugbe, who attested to the fact that most impassable raods are receiving attention across the state.
The revered monarch said that this feat will be indelible in the anal of the history of Ekiti even after the completion of the statutory terms of the present government in office.

The Monarch appreciated Governor Biodun-Oyebanji led administration for his efforts in ensuring that the reconstruction of Ado/ijan/ikare and Ado/ifaki/Omuo/kabba roads were approved by the Federal government while ikere/Akure road is currently being rehabilitated.

Earlier, the Eyesorun Abosede Adejugbe who spoke on behalf of other Oloris noted that the Ekiti Council of Oloris would not condone notorious activities such as sexual assaults on women as perpetrators caught would be continually exposed for legal action to take its course on them.

They pledged to always give their support in their capacity as wives of traditional rulers in Ekiti State to the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, whom they described as God sent to Ekiti

The interface, which was well attended by female political office holders, featured the donation of cash and food items by the first lady to the oloris.
