Ekiti State Government Presents ₦5.8 Million to 5 Fire Disaster Victims.

The Ekiti State Government has presented a total sum of ₦5,800,000 to five fire disaster victims in the state with an appeal to residents to always take precautionary measures to forestall natural and man-made disasters.

Speaking while presenting cheques to the five victims who lost their property to different fire incidents in 2023, the State Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye warned residents against indiscriminate blocking of waterways, reckless bush burning, and laxity in handling electrical appliances in order to prevent flooding and fire disasters.

Speaking through the General Manager of the State Emergency Management Agency, Mr Oludare Asaolu, Deputy Governor Afuye assured that the State Government will continue to support disaster victims, stating that “though the intervention from the government cannot be commensurate with whatever the victims have lost to disaster, Government would continue to do all within its powers to ameliorate the plight of victims of natural and man made disasters in the State stressing that the Oyebanji Administration will not neglect the vulnerable people of the State under any guide

Special Assistant to SEMA, Hon. Gbenga Akinola, appealed to residents to switch off electrical appliances when leaving their homes and avoid storing petrol and other inflammable items in their homes and places of work.

Beneficiaries, including Chief Gboyega Ojo, expressed gratitude to Governor Oyebanji for his support, describing the present administration as a “responsible and responsive” one

Other beneficiaries on their part said the Ekiti State Government’s response to their plight was a clear demonstration of its commitment to the welfare of its citizens.
