As part of concerted efforts to boost food production and provide gainful employment for youths, the Ekiti State Government has commenced the process of training and empowering another batch of 80 youths in the State under the Administration’s Broiler Production Scheme
Addressing the 80 young graduates selected from the 16 Local Government Ares of the State at a pre-training briefing in Ado-Ekiti, the State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr Ebenezer Boluwade urged them to be focused, diligent and committed during the training in order to master the art of broiler production and be successful farmers and entrepreneurs in future.
The Commissioner who spoke through the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Engr Gbenga Odesanmi described broiler production as a lucrative business with short gestation period stressing that efforts were ongoing towards providing credit facilities to support successful participants at training to set up their own poultry farms.
He congratulated the 80 youths for being successful in the highly competitive selection process.

While commending Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his investment in the Agriculture sector, Boluwade disclosed that the present administration had completely rehabilitated facilities at the Livestock Development Center, Erinfun and adequately equipped it with modern infrastructure and conducive accommodation for optimal performance of participants during the training and skills acquisition programme.
He said being a successful poultry farmer himself, Governor Oyebanji is fully committed to developing as many youths as possible in the State into successful poultry farmers and successful entrepreneurs in Agribusiness in line with the shared prosperity mantra of his administration.
In their good will messages, the Ministry’s Director, Veterinary, Dr. Sunday Osayomi and the Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Mr Adeleye charged the participants to take full advantage of the scheme to develop themselves in small and medium scale entrepreneurs.
