Over 250 residents of Igbemo community benefited from the distribution of rice by the Ekiti State Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, on Sunday, as part of efforts at boosting the welfare of the people and reducing the impact of the current harsh economy.
Speaking during the distribution of the food item, Rt. Hon. Olatunbosun said the move was in support of the more comprehensive efforts of Governor Biodun Oyebanji to address the welfare of the people in the State.
Olatunbosun who added that distribution of essential food items and financial aid to those that are most in need was not new to him, reiterated his commitment to the general wellbeing of constituents and promised not to relent in assisting the needy in the society.
Recalling that Governor Oyebanji recently initiated the distribution with 20,000 bags of rice, 12,000 bags of maize grains, and 3,008 bags of garri, specifically targeting vulnerable individuals in the state, the Commissioner said that his ongoing support highlights the state government’s dedication to assisting its citizens during these challenging times and a call to well-to-do individuals and corporate organizations to be their “brothers’ keepers”.
“We must be willing to put aside whatever we might be dealing with at the present time in our own lives to help someone. The Governor’s plans is beyond palliatives as the policy of the present administration is to empower people with skills and financial support while ensuring a conducive environment for businesses to thrive. This noble efforts however require the corporation of the people to be fruitful, it is a collective responsibility.” he said.
