In line with the directives of Governor Biodun Oyebanji that inputs and agrochemicals be made available to farmers in the State at subsidized rates, the Ekiti State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security has announced the arrival of crop protection products for maize, cassava, rice and cocoa production at some designated selling points across the State.
A statement from the office Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti said that the products which include herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides would be sold at subsidized rates under an arrangement with viable and reliable vendors in a move that will guarantee provision of quality products and prevent the exposure of farmers in the State to unwholesome products.
The statement said this latest initiative of the government was part of concerted efforts to ensure farmers have access to genuine crop protection products, which would enhance their productivity and improve crop yields this farming season
It said that the state government, under the leadership of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, had subsidized the products by 50 per cent up to certain limits for all farmers in the state.
The statement advised farmers to call the number on the flyer for the details or visit the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.

It would be recalled that Governor Biodun Oyebanji recently approved a 50 per cent subsidy on maize, rice seeds, cassava stems, Oil palm, cocoa, and cashew seedlings to be distributed to farmers in the state in this planting season as part of efforts to rejuvenate and scale up food and tree crops production in the State
This is coming on the heels of a similar programme initiated by his administration last year under which small holder farmers were provided with improved seeds and seedlings, with a 50 per cent subsidy, for maximum production.

Great initiative. The Lord bless our Governor.
I advise that rather than using some obscure channels, the sales should be done through All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN). Otherwise, if you use any non-farmers channel, it would be hijacked and real farmers would be buying from the agro merchants.
