The Ekiti State Government has lauded the indispensable roles being played family Physicians in the nation’s health care delivery system.
The Secretary to the Ekiti State Government, Dr.(Mrs)Abibat Adubiaro gave the commendation while playing host to the Ekiti State Chapter of the Society of Family Physicians of Nigeria in Ado-Ekiti.
Dr. Adubiaro emphasized the unique roles of the association in promoting public health stateing that “the work of the association cannot be neglected or sidelined in our society, as health is indeed wealth”
She reassured the team that the Governor of Ekiti, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji remains committed to the welfare of its citizens, including healthcare workers.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman, Society of Family Physicians of Nigeria, Ekiti State Chapter, Dr.Ibrahim Azeez highlighted the purpose of the visit, which he said includes: enhancing advocacy and awareness on the theme of this year’s Family Doctor’s Day, globally celebrated on May 19th each year
Azeez said the theme for this years celebration of this year’s Family Doctor’s Day which is “Healthy Planet, Healthy People” is apt as the entire globe is working assiduously towards moving away from hydrocarbons and other fossil fuel that generate greenhouse gases to cleaner sources of energy such as air, wind and hydro.

He commended the recent efforts of the Federal Government of Nigeria in transitioning to non-combustive vehicles, aligning with the chapter’s objectives of improving environmental health and reducing the prevalence of infectious and communicable diseases.
Dr. Azeez emphasized the role of stakeholders in supporting government policies, expressing confidence in the collaboration with the government to achieve shared objectives.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from both parties to work together towards a healthier future for the people of Ekiti State.
