EKITI GOVERNOR FLAGS OFF PAYMENT OF COMPENSATION ON EKITI RING ROAD PROJECT

…..promises more projects that would open up the State for investment and improve the living standard of the people.

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Abayomi has flagged off the payment of compensation to owners of farmlands and properties affected by the proposed Ekiti State Ring Road project spanning from Iworoko- Are -Afao- Araromi Obo to Ago Aduloju, Ado-Ekiti with a pledge that his administration would continue to initiate projects that would open up the State for investment and improve the living standard of the people of the state

Speaking at the event in Ado Ekiti, the Governor said that the payment of compensation was in fulfilment of his earlier promise that non of the structures and Farmlands affected by the Ring road project would be demolished without payment of compensation to the rightful owners in accordance with the provision of section 24 of the Nation’s Land use Act.

The Governor who was represented by the State Head of Service, Mr Sunday Komolafe restated the commitment of the present administration to the infrastructural and industrial development of the State stressing that the rehabilitation and construction of the ongoing Overhead Bridge project in Ado-Ekit as well as the Airport project attest to efforts of the administration at enhancing infrastructural development of the state.

“It is for this reason that we have ensured that before any construction work begins, we will do the due diligence to identify those who may lose their means of livelihood and comfort along the corridor of development. As an advocate of rule of law, we have ensured that none of the structures and crops affected by the ring-road project will be demolished without payment of compensation in accordance with the provisions of section 29 of the Land Use Act of 1978” he said.

According to the Governor, the Ring road project which was conceived by the past administration is receiving the attention of the his administration because of the inherent benefits of the project as the road would ultimately reduce traffic gridlock within the state capital and also complement the developmental strides of his administration.

Oyebanji therefore enjoined the residents of the state to contribute their quota by supporting the administration to enable it continue delivering democracy dividends to the people.

He disclosed that efforts were also in top gear toward the payment of the remaining compensation on developmental projects such as the Airport Project, the Central Business District at Atikankan, and 2nd Flyover Project in Ado Ekiti.

The Governor disclosed that the payment of the compensation would be conducted publicly to ensure transparency and truthfulness so as to eliminate proxy and dubious claims, urging beneficiaries to make judicious use of their entitlement for personal development.

While appreciating the affected persons for their sacrifices for the overall good and development of the State, the Governor canvassed for cooperation of the claimants with government officials so that the exercise can be conducted in an orderly manner.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Special Adviser/Director General e-GIS/Land Management to the Governor, Mr.Akintobi Olusanmi noted when completed, that the ring road would go a long way in enhancing vehicular movement within the State Capital City and its environs.

He reiterated the commitment of the present administration to the welfare of Ekiti people as exemplified in the prompt payment of compensation to all affected category of people in every developmental endeavour, noting that a similar programme was held barely a month ago where those whose properties were affected by the on-going construction of 2nd Flyover Project in Ado Ekiti were duly compensated.

He commended the Governor for attaching importance to the welfare of the people of the state.

The Special Adviser directed the claimants to submit their NIN and two passport photographs for the processing of their money the bank.
