EKITI GOVT. RECOMMENDS EXPERIENTIAL, HYBRID LEARNING METHODOLOGY FOR HIGH LEVEL EDUCATIONAL OUTCOMES

Ekiti State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Bimpe Aderiye has advised teachers in the State to embrace experiential and Hybrid Learning methodology towards achieving higher education outcomes.

Dr. Aderiye gave the advice in Ado Ekiti during a two-day onsite training for Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) teachers in the State’s public primary and secondary schools.

Describing Experiential Learning as the process of learning by doing, Aderiye stressed that by engaging students in hands-on experiences and reflection, they are better able to connect theories and knowledge learned in the classroom to real-world situations while Hybrid learning, also referred to as blended learning, is an approach to education that combines online educational materials with traditional in-person classroom methods.

She emphasized importance of staying up to date with technological trends, noting that keeping up with the latest innovations would give them competitive advantage amongst their peers globally.

The Commissioner assured that the State Government would continue to partner interested individuals and corporate organizations to achieve the Human Capital Development pillar of the Biodun Oyebanji administration.

She urged participants to justify the Government’s huge investment in the education sector to create a sustainable conducive teaching and learning environment in the State by actively participating in the training programme and judiciously utilizing knowledge and skills acquired to improve their respective schools.

Earlier in her remark, the CEO of the programme sponsors, Teacher Aid Initiative, Mrs Adeola Ojeleye who recalled that she had her compulsory National Youth Service Programme (NYSC) in Ekiti State in 2009, said the programme was an opportunity to give back to the State.

Mrs Ojeleye explained that benefiting teachers would be extensively engaged for the next six months in an online training on effective practical teaching method.

She said that the Project Based Learning (PBL) programme would provide cost effective approach to teaching and learning.

In his reaction, one of the participants; Mr Emmanuel Okafor, a basic science teacher, expressed gratitude for the opportunity provided by the training programme.

He promised on behalf of other participants to be attentive at the programme and judiciously utilize knowledge acquired.
