Be resilient in your quest to bring educational development to Ekiti State – Oyebanji charges Ekiti indigenes

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has charged people of the State to be resilient in the quest to bring educational and technological development to the State

Speaking at the first matriculation ceremony of Students of The Polytechnic, Omuo-Ekiti, Governor Oyebanji stated that though Education is capital intensive, it is usually worth the investment put into it .

Oyebanji who was represented by the State Commissioner for Education, Dr (Mrs) Olabimpe Aderiye stressed that whatever an individual can imagine can be accomplished citing The Polytechnic, Ibadan as an example of an institution which was not big at inception but has grown over the years into one of the most reputed tertiary institutions in the country today.

He acknowledged the Olomuo of Omuo, Oba Dr. Omonigbehin and the people of Omuo both at home and in diaspora for their good intention and willingness to contribute to the progress of the State with the establishment of the institution.

Oyebanji urged the Governing Council , academic board and management of the new Polythecnic to remain focused so that the vision and mission of the institution can be accomplished within a short period

In his address, the Olomuo of Omuo-Ekiti, Oba Noah Omonigbeyin appreciated God for making the day a reality.

He commended the people of Omuo-Ekiti especially the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Omuo Chapter for their courage and doggedness in actualizing their dream about establishing the Polythecnic which he described as the baby of community.

Oba Omonigbehin, equally appreciated Governor Biodun Oyebanji for the love and passion he has continuously shown to the people of the State since he assumed office.

He solicited the support of the people of the state and public spirited individuals to donate in cash and kind towards the development of the Polythecnic into a centre of excellence.

In his address, the Chairman Governing Council of the Polytechnic, Omuo-Ekiti, Asiwaju Apalara Wole-Adewumi said that the history of the Polythecnic which is first Higher Institution in the entire Ekiti East LGA is replete with twists and turns, stating that the establishment of the institution is a dream come true.

Asiwaju Apalara urged the pioneer students of the Polythecnic to abide by the laid down regulations of the institution and put in their best so that they can come out in flying colours

In his address, the Polytechnic’s Rector, Engr. Babatunde Agun said that the vision of the institution is to produce technologically minded and competent graduates, who would meet the contemporary global needs in terms of manpower and efficient service delivery.

Agun stated that the institution strives to build a world where dreams are nurtured and potential knows no bound.

Present at the event were: the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education; Dr Folakemi Olomojobi, Former SSG; Mr Foluso Daramola, Prof. Omotosho, amongst others
