TOSIN ALUKO-AJISAFE, OLATUNBOSUN, EKSWAMA BOSS LAUD RESIDENTS OVER COMPLIANCE DURING FEBRUARY’S SANITATION EXERCISE.

…..as 35 violators are prosecuted for flouting sanitation laws.

Top officials of EKITI State Government including the State Commissioner for Environment, Mrs Tosin Aluko-Ajisafe; Information Commissioner, Rt.Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun and the Director General of the Ekiti Waste Management Authority (EKSWAMA), Mr. Olasunkanmi Onipede have expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance of residents during the February edition of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise.

Environment Commissioner Chief Mrs. Tosin Aluko-Ajisafe who spoke through the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry , Mr. Babatunde Alokan lauded the residents for their cooperation in making the exercise achieve the set objectives of
maintaining a clean, safe and hygienic environment in the State.

Hon Aluko assured that her Ministry would intensify efforts to ensure that Ekiti State remains clean, tidy and free from diseases.

She stressed further that, next month’s exercise would be better as the State Transport Management Agency EKSTMA would be more involved to enforce “the no movement order right from the State boundaries to the nooks and crannies of the State to ensure that there are no vehicular movement during the sanitation exercise”

Also speaking in the same vein, the Information Commissioner, Rt Hon. Taiwo Olatunhosun who also monitored the exercise in Ado Ekiti, emphasized the government’s commitment to intensify sensitization campaigns across the state not only on solid waste disposal and management, but also on drainage maintenance, proper use of waste bins as well as sustaining hygienic behaviour within living environment.

Hon Olatunbosun stressed the importance of educating residents on the necessity of maintaining cleanliness in their environment in order to ensure improved living conditions, enhanced health and well- being of the citizenry for greater economic productivity.

He urged people to properly utilize the Dino bins recently procured and placed strategic locations by the State Government for ease of refuse collections in Ado Ekiti metropolis

In his remarks, the General Manager of Ekiti Waste Management Authority (EKSWAMA), Mr. Olasunkanmi Onipede explained the strategic placement of waste bins, particularly in market areas, highlighted efforts to enforce waste disposal regulations, including the installation of red zone ribbons to deter littering of medians and public spaces.

In his remarks, the Director of Environmental Health and Sanitation Mr. Tunde Balogun, who urged residents to always abide by sanitation laws disclosed that about 35 individuals who violated the State’s Environmental Health and Sanitation Law during today’s Sanitation Exercise were apprehended and prosecuted before Magistrate Olubunmi Bamidele in Ado Ekiti
