Ekiti State Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun has dedicated the award of recognition conferred on him by the State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations to Governor Biodun Oyebanji and the entire Ekiti people.
Rt. Hon. Olatunbosun received the award in Ado Ekiti alongside the Acting Registrar of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti, Prince Sunday Adeyemi-Adejolu (FNIPR) and High Chief Femi Ajayi (FNIPR).
Olatunbosun described Governor Oyebanji’s style of governance as strategic and very transparent, stressing his abhorrence for crass propaganda and at the same time believing in the right of the people to free information.
The Government spokesman believed in using proven professionals for specific portfolios and assignments adding that the focus is to make life more meaningful for people in the State at all cost.
Pledging to always put in his best in the discharge of his responsibilities as the State Commissioner for information, Olatunbosun said the honour would spur him to continue to explore creative ways to get the best for the people.
He also assured that the State Government would continue to partner professional bodies to ensure access to continuous learning opportunities for its workforce in line with global best practices, noting that members usually have access to professional development resources to enhance skills and knowledge and to stay up to date on changes within their field.
“I see it as a privilege to have this award, it is important for me to commend the NIPR for properly and positively presenting Government’s policies, programmes and activities.
“If we have good government with noble policies and the public don’t know about it, the Government cannot stand. So it is good to commend you, the Government of Biodun Oyebanji likes what you are doing, we are going to be good partners,” Olatunbosun assured.
One of the awardees, High Chief Femi Ajayi had solicited more synergy between the State Government and NIPR, stressing the importance of professionalism in public relation at all levels of Government.
In his remarks, the immediate past Chairman of the State Chapter of the Institute, Prince Sunday Adeyemi-Adejolu those who are not trained as Public Relations Practitioners but practicing in the State are contradicting the NIPR Act and would soon be sanctioned.
Price Adeyemi-Adejolu solicited the support of the State Government in ensuring the registration of State Information Officers as well as Information Officers in LGAs and LCDAs are registered with the institute to guarantee professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the State chapter of NIPR, Mr. Anthony Adesua said that explained that the awardees were selected based on merit and expressed hope that the award would spur them to do more for humanity.
Mr. Adesua lauded what he described as the unwavering commitment of Rt. Hon. Olatunbosun in prompt dissemination and management of information in the State.
Adesua noted that since his assumption of office as the Information Commissioner, the information structure in the state has become better coordinated and improved tremendously, praying that God would continue to strengthen him to sustain the stride of development.
