EKITI STATE GOVERNMENT REITERATES COMMITMENT TO YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

….secures Aare Afe Babalola’s support for Proposed Youth Carnival, establishment of ICT Hub

The founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti (ABUAD), Aare Afe Babalola (SAN) has promised to support the proposed Ekiti Youth Carnival and the establishment of an ICT Hub for Youths, an initiative of the Ekiti State Ministry of Youth Development in partnership with the Ekiti Youth Council.

 Aare Babalola made the pledge while playing host to the Ekiti State Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Gold Adedayo who led the Management Staff of the Ministry and representatives of the State Youth Parliament on an advocacy visit to the elder Statesman at the ABUAD Campus in Ado Ekiti.

Aare Babalola said he could relate with the challenges facing youths in the State having spent his youth in the same terrain, adding that he therefore remained committed to their cause and would always support initiatives that would help youths actualize their life vision.

The renowned legal luminary and philanthropist urged youths in the state to remain focused and continue to support efforts of Government to secure their future and develop the State.

Aare Babalola commended the Governor Biodun Oyebanji led Government for the various developmental projects across the State stressing that he was ready to support the developmental strides of the Ekiti State helmsman at all times.

Earlier in his remarks, the Commissioner for Youth Development ,  Mr. Gold Adedayo explained that the purpose of  the visit of his team was to seek support of Legal luminary for the proposed Ekiti Youth Carnival  and the proposed ICT Hub for youths in the State.

He disclosed that apart from providing  Youths  in the state with the needed support in terms of guidance and logistics, his ministry in line with developmental agenda of the Biodun Oyebanji administration is fully committed to the creation and sustenance of viable opportunities and veritable platforms that could be used to harness and enhance talents and skills of youths.

Stressing that the Oyebanji administration would leave no stone unturned towards supporting youths to achieve their full potentials, Adedayo said that the State Government is expanding capacity building opportunities for the youths in the area of sports, technology innovation and knowledge economy.

The Commissioner who presented the proposal on Ekiti Youth Carnival and the proposed ICT Hub to the ABUAD Founder, explained that the Carnival would feature a Marathon race, Public Lectures, Football Competition , Cultural Exhibition, Parade as well as an Award/ Gala Night and Concert.

He highlighted benefits accruable from the carnival to include promotion of unity among the youths,  showcasing Ekiti State tourism potentials and values, as well as creating  jobs for the Youths.
