EKSG WOULD CONTINUE TO PRIORITIZE WELFARE OF TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS WORKERS – ADUBIARO

Eksg SSG, Dr. Adubiaro

Ekiti State Government has promised to continue to prioritize the welfare of workers in tertiary institutions in the State for effective and efficient service delivery.

The Secretary to the State Government, Dr Habibat Adubiaro made the promise while playing host to the leadership of the three Labour Unions at the College of Health Sciences, Ijero Ekiti in Ado-Ekiti.

The SSG told the Unions leadership that the State Government under the leadership of Governor Biodun Oyebanji has been magnanimous in prioritizing the welfare of workers in the tertiary institutions through prompt release of monthly subvention.

She assured the Union leaders that government would continue to intensify efforts in ensuring that welfare are given adequate attention despite the meager resources accruing to the state.

“We all know the type of Governor we have. Governor Oyebanji is compassionate, kind and always ready to help. But it all depends on the resources available. You know government is a continuum and he has to continue with what is on ground”.

“We are very happy when you said that Mr Governor has attended to some of your demands. That means he has the College of Health Sciences, Ijero in mind”.

“Assistance in the increment of salary is part of what the Provost wrote to the Governor. And you are the only institution the Governor has increased its subvention. For the Governor to have increased your subvention, that means you have to appreciate him”.

Dr Adubiaro noted that upgrading the institution to a polytechnic status as demanded by the Union of the college requires a lot of processes, saying government would look into it.

She assured the Labour Unions that Government would be relentless in ensuring that more infrastructure that would aid teaching and learning are provided in the institution without further delay.

“I want you to pray for the governor because within one year he has done wonderfully well. As he is attending to tertiary institutions, he is also attending to other sectors too because the civil servants, they will ask for their salaries, the pensioners too they will ask for their pensions”.

Earlier, the Chairman of ASUP, College of Health Sciences, Ijero Ekiti Chapter, Mr Oluwatuyi Olusegun appreciated the Governor for the regular payment of the college subvention.

“This is coming from the government that understands the pain of his people. We want to appreciate the Governor on his disposition to the workers and entire Ekiti kete”.

“Our Governor is a working Governor. He has been trying to make sure that every part of Ekiti state felt his administration. We want to also appreciate the Governor for the approval of palliative measures for workers in Ekiti state in face of the economic hardship”.

He requested that the college be upgraded to a Polytechnic status for them to enjoy access to  TETFUND fund in developing the institution.

Mr Oluwatuyi also called for an increment in the college monthly subvention and take off grant for facility development.
